Senate Bill 269, which would change the filing-fee requirement for appeals to the State Board of Tax Appeals when a prior appeal remains pending, was favorably reported out of the Senate Assessment and Taxation Committee by voice vote and placed on the consent calendar.
Committee staff presenter Amelia explained the bill would amend the statute governing SBTA filing fees so that if a taxpayer has a previous appeal still pending before the board (either awaiting a hearing or a decision), a new filing for the subsequent tax year would not require payment of the filing fee.
Senator Peck moved the committee favorably report SB 269 and to place the bill on the consent calendar; Senator Klamp seconded. The clerk recorded the motion and the chair called for a voice vote. The committee voice vote was "Aye" and the chair announced the motion carries.
No amendments were recorded during committee action and no roll‑call tally was recorded in the hearing transcript. The chair said the committee would resume consideration of other bills at a later date.
