Madison County supervisors on March 3 approved a series of routine and project-related items, including additions to the county funded road plan, several subdivision plats, equipment and administrative requests, and a petition to abandon a segment of Beal Road.
Among the approvals: supervisors added several roads to the county's funded road plan (Brad Shaw Crossing, Camden Court, Distribution Drive, Ersey Veil Road, Harwood Court, Honeysucker Road and Sumter Court). The board approved the funded road plan as presented.
The board approved preliminary and final plats for multiple subdivisions: Warren Meadows (six lots on roughly 40 acres), Scott Farms (12 lots on roughly 93 acres) and Meadows at Stout Farms Part 4 (11 lots on about 62.21 acres). Staff said none of these subdivisions required public infrastructure at this stage.
Supervisors approved a request from an emergency service entity to purchase 10 laptops for vehicles from the E-911 fund (agenda item presented by Albert Jones). The board approved permission for T.L. Wallace to subcontract work to an LLC for traffic maintenance services on a road-stabilization project, and approved the petition from the owners of parcel 92 H 33 D 02 to abandon a portion of Beal Road (the county maintains the segment under a prescriptive easement, staff said).
Other approvals included consent payroll and claims dockets, budget amendments and transfers, authorization to advertise for a receptionist/receiving clerk position, and acknowledgement of intergovernmental letters related to county-line road matters. The Canton Garden Club was given conditional permission to use the historic courthouse for an event in November, contingent on construction scheduling and the courthouse renovation timetable.
The board also announced a ribbon-cutting for Reunion 3 scheduled for Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. near Highway 51 and confirmed invitations would be sent to state officials. Supervisors later recessed to executive session. After returning, the board disclosed two executive-session actions: it voted to retain two expert witnesses for a litigated matter and to approve accounting policies contingent upon training.
Ending: The routine approvals advance several subdivision and road-planning items and schedule next steps (including the Reunion 3 ribbon-cutting). The executive-session votes to retain expert witnesses and to adopt accounting policies will be implemented by county administration and legal staff.
