Sheriff's office to host shredathon and medication take-back Saturday at Veterans Memorial Park

The Cochise County Sheriff's Office will host a free shredathon and medication take-back event Saturday, March 1, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Park, Sheriff’s Office representative Scott Borchstadt said.
Volunteers will remove paper from vehicles and place it into a shredding truck; organizers asked residents to keep the limit to five boxes (standard paper boxes) and to remove metal such as paper clips and binder clips beforehand. Borchstadt said the event also accepts prescription medication for proper disposal but does not accept needles, ointments, liquids or inhalers.
"It is a free event. However, donations are appreciated. And if you have any prescription medication, bring that along, and, we'll make sure that it is properly disposed of," Borchstadt said. He said last year the event shredded roughly 10,000 pounds of paper and collected about 80 pounds of medication.
