Albany students thank board for JROTC trip to Norwich; students report leadership gains

A group of Albany High School JROTC students addressed the board to thank trustees for supporting a recent leadership trip to Norwich University.
Students described leadership lessons, teamwork exercises and exposure to college-level ROTC programs. "We learned confidence and leadership skills," said one student who attended. Several students said the trip helped them clarify college and career plans, including interest in military and criminal-justice pathways.
Superintendent Hockrider reported Major Erickson and Albany cadets had been active in outreach and that a number of cadets were selected to attend Boys and Girls State this summer. Several trustees praised the JROTC program's role in student engagement and leadership development.
