Board updates web materials, surveys and outreach plan for student-outcomes governance

Board members received an update on the district’s student-outcomes focused governance work during the Feb. 27 meeting, including plans for surveys, a draft web page and scheduled outreach to middle schools.
Staff told the board that Spanish- and English-language surveys with QR codes are complete and will be sent to parents, shared on the web page and distributed through community outreach. A draft of the student-outcomes governance web page is nearly ready for publication, and board members will be sent a scheduled list of middle-school events and asked to pick dates to attend. The packet lists March and April as the months for middle-school outreach.
The update also noted that Governing Board Member Tamilia Gosa Chapa will lead the student outreach portion of the work to ensure student voice is included in feedback on the board’s draft goals and proposed superintendent guardrails. The district plans to post materials and outreach schedules on the website and solicit input from families, staff and students in both English and Spanish.
No formal action was taken on the item; board members were invited to provide input on the draft materials and to take part in the scheduled outreach events.
