Board approves multiple consent and committee packages; several abstentions recorded

The Hillside Public School District Board of Education approved a series of grouped consent and committee actions across finance, education, labor and other agenda sections during the meeting. Several motions were presented to move blocks of items and were approved by roll call.

Member Shapiro moved the finance package and asked to “move items 1 through 5 under finance.” During the roll call on the finance items, Shapiro said he needed to abstain on the second half of item 1 because he was not present for the Jan. 23 meeting and also listed abstentions on two bills in the bills list (identified in the transcript as 0812 and S175; the transcript's rendering of those bill identifiers was not fully clear).
