Cumberland School Committee announces hires, resignations and a retirement

The Cumberland School Committee received personnel announcements at its Feb. 27 meeting.
Human resources staff reported two appointments: John Capaldi was appointed a Grade 4 teacher at Garvin School (one‑year assignment effective Feb. 10, 2025) and Nicole Cook was listed as appointed to the district human resources coordinator position effective March 3, 2025. The district also recorded four resignations: Alyssa LaCass, human resources coordinator (effective Feb. 28, 2025); Jason Feist, paraprofessional at the high school (effective Feb. 10, 2025); Nicole Cook from her building‑secretary position at North (effective Feb. 28, 2025); and Catherine Amendola, a Spanish teacher at Cumberland High School who is on unpaid leave, with a resignation effective June 30, 2025. In addition, Cynthia Belchi, a Grade 2 teacher at Community School, was announced as retiring after 36 years of service.
The personnel report was given by the district personnel representative and recorded for the minutes.
