The West Bend School District Board of Education on Feb. 27 approved a set of 2024–25 compensation measures, including a collective bargaining agreement for certified staff base wages and pay adjustments for certified staff supplements and novice teachers, support staff, administrators and co‑curricular advisors and athletics coaches.
The changes, brought forward by Assistant Superintendent Lenny Hansen, follow recent negotiations with the West Bend education association (referred to in the meeting as the WBA) and were presented as a package of compensation updates affecting multiple employee groups for the 2024–25 fiscal year. Hansen said, “Those negotiations resulted in an agreement that we bring forward today, which is a collective bargaining agreement that we would move to approve.”
Board members moved and seconded each item in turn and approved them by unanimous roll call votes. The items approved were: the 2024–25 certified staff base wages agreement (collective bargaining); updates to certified staff compensation that include supplemental pay and a novice pay scale for teachers in their first five years; support staff compensation updates; administrator compensation; and co‑curricular advisor and athletics coach compensation.
The meeting began with verification that the session had been properly noticed; Superintendent Wimmer confirmed the public posting and distribution of meeting notice. The consent agenda, approved without discussion, noted one resignation and two retirements but provided no further details on those personnel items.
Discussion during the meeting was brief and procedural. Aside from Hansen’s summary of the bargaining outcome for certified staff, board members did not request further details during the vote sequence. Each compensation motion was moved, seconded (several seconds were recorded by Mr. Donaldson), and carried by roll call with all present board members voting yes.
The board adjourned after the votes. No dollar amounts, implementation timelines, or budget offsets were specified in the meeting record; the administration presented the items as proposals for the 2024–25 fiscal year and characterized them as applying districtwide to the named employee groups.
