Affordable Housing Advisory Committee retains chair, names vice chair and adopts bimonthly schedule

The Nassau County Affordable Housing Advisory Committee approved meeting minutes, reappointed its chair and named Jenna Emmons vice chair during its 4 p.m. meeting on Feb. 20, 2025, and voted to adopt a bimonthly meeting schedule beginning March 27, 2025.

Committee members voted to approve the minutes of a prior meeting after a brief review; the motion was moved by Mr. Blue and seconded by Mr. Matovina and carried by voice vote. The committee then moved to officer appointments. A motion that Commissioner Hartman continue as chairman passed after a motion by Mr. Matovina and a second by Mr. Stapleton. The committee also voted to have Jenna Emmons serve as vice chair; Matovina moved and Blue seconded that appointment.

Members discussed meeting frequency before voting to adopt a bimonthly schedule for 2025, with meetings listed for March 27, May 20 (second), July 24 (fourth), Sept. 25 and Nov. 20. The motion to accept the bimonthly schedule was moved by Mr. Blue and seconded by Mr. Matovina and approved by the committee. Committee members said bimonthly meetings would keep new appointees more engaged while staff processes three current vacancies.

The committee chair confirmed staff would hold the March 27 meeting date and attempt to have new appointees in place by then. Committee members agreed March would include an overview of the committee's 11 incentive strategies ahead of more focused discussion later in the year.
