"Our town code already has a definition or requirements of noise above certain decibels; you can't do that after 10 p.m.," Town Board member Bill Campbell said, noting a passage in the draft that mentions uses between "midnight and 9 a.m." and calling that inconsistent with the town's noise rules. Other board members said the chapter governing large assemblies already gives the board discretion to grant exceptions to the noise ordinance for specific events.
After back-and-forth about reader clarity, the board directed staff to add explicit language in the application stating that the listed hours are outside limits and that any exception to the regular noise ordinance must be authorized by the town board as a special condition.
