UN reports intensified hostilities in Donetsk; tens of thousands shelter in active‑hostility areas as evacuations continue

The spokesperson noted that since the launch of a mandatory evacuation of children with their families from high‑risk areas in April 2023, more than 13,000 children have been evacuated from over 250 towns and villages in Ukrainian‑controlled parts of Donetsk.
UN officials encouraged residents to leave for safer regions either through government‑led evacuations supported by humanitarian organizations or on their own, stressing that the security situation remains volatile and that basic services have been disrupted.
