Forest Park Main Street staff told the Downtown Development Authority on Thursday that the 2025 events calendar is nearly finalized and that the program is working on a branded identity for the Main Street district.
Staff said the Saint Patrick’s Day fountain party will kick off the season, and the Food and Wine Festival is scheduled for Friday, April 25, from 5 to 9 p.m. Staff also listed recurring and seasonal events including a Saturday morning yoga series called “Up Early on Main,” a fall Blues on Main event in October, a dogs-and-Halloween festival called Powtoberfest, Small Business Saturday promotions and a December “Holiday on Main” celebration.
Staff added the program is exploring an Afro-centered event to highlight diaspora food, music, culture and fashion, tentatively scheduled for Sept. 12–13. The Main Street office is also developing a branded logo and light-pole banners for the Main Street district and a broader Arts and Entertainment District, and plans to form a public-art program that could include murals, sculptures and installations.
Why it matters: The calendar and branding shape downtown activation and influence how the city markets Main Street to residents, visitors and businesses. Staff said they are also working on event budgets and sponsorship packages to support monetization.
Details: The Main Street manager said she will provide the DDA with a full-year calendar of events and send individual calendar invites to board members. Staff said they are coordinating with other Georgia Main Street managers and expect to deliver a working budget and sponsorship options by the next meeting.
Staff also noted plans for a Main Street ambassador program and mandatory Georgia Main Street trainings for the DDA board. No formal votes were taken on calendar items at Thursday’s meeting.
