County aging services stakeholder group readies ageism/ableism training, resource guide updates and caregiver town halls

Health and Human Services staff briefed the Board on Feb. 26 about ongoing work to coordinate county aging and disability services and to better connect older adults with county resources.
Staff described a standing stakeholder group (Moving Together partnership) that meets monthly and has prioritized an ageism and ableism training that will be piloted in HHS and then rolled out countywide with partner organizations, including Marin Center for Independent Living. The county is also updating an older, out‑of‑date resource guide and developing caregiver town halls to better reach family caregivers seeking support.
HHS noted a currently open or recently re‑posted Senior Department Analyst position intended to bridge data, planning and cross‑department coordination for older adults; staff said interviews for that role were scheduled and that recruitment timing had delayed earlier progress. Staff invited board aids to participate in stakeholder meetings and said HHS has items in its budget work plan addressing older‑adult outcomes and intergenerational strategies. Supervisors asked HHS to keep the board informed as the analyst recruitment and program roll‑outs progress.
