Human Resources staff presented high‑level recruitment and hiring metrics to the Board on Feb. 26. The presentation showed that the county’s average days to hire improved from about 117 days in fiscal 2019–20 to approximately 91 days in the current year; staff said the peer‑average is roughly 110 days.
HR also displayed total hires year‑to‑date and said application pools appear to be growing. Supervisors asked for more detailed benchmarking against private‑sector competitors and for data on applicants who drop out during hiring (to assess whether process duration drives attrition). Another request was to align the hiring metrics with separation reasons and overall retention trends so the board can better understand the causes behind vacancies and turnover.
HR staff said they will work with supervisors’ offices and return with more comparative data and a fuller picture of hires, departures and reasons for attrition.
