Commission approves event contracts, fee waivers and insurance requirement for county complex

Bannock County commissioners approved several contracts and fee waivers that will allow community events to use the county complex this year.
Scott Crowther, event director and business manager for the complex, presented contracts including one with the Barrel Racing Association (BCRA). Crowther asked for a standard 50% fee reduction for BCRA; the board approved the reduction by voice vote.
Taylor Smith of the Iowa State Journal described a proposed Family Fun Day that draws 20 to 30 vendors, children's activities and a tie-in with a free fishing day. Commissioners agreed to the contract and to include a $1 million insurance requirement to protect the county. Crowther said the event organizer will provide the insurance coverage.
Mikaela Prohaska, representing Port Neffel Trust, requested a fee waiver for a recurring yoga event that draws large turnouts. The commission approved the contract and waived the fee; staff and event organizers discussed possible expansion to more dates in coordination with venue scheduling.
Each motion passed by voice vote. Commissioners asked staff to finalize contract language noting the insurance requirement for the Family Fun Day and to process the standard fee-waiver documentation.
