Sumter County Council: easement, property moves and multiple first readings approved; litter-board change and bond ordinance addressed

Sumter County Council took a series of procedural and action items at its March meeting, including property decisions from an executive session, first readings of land-abandonment ordinances, a change to the litter-control board composition, and a public hearing on a county bond authorization ordinance.

Executive-session property actions: the council reported three outcomes from an executive session and approved them by motion and voice vote. The council granted a temporary construction easement to the South Carolina Department of Transportation for a project on Pike Road near North Main, directed county staff to pursue sales and property accounting for a property on North Main Street, and approved a motion to decline an immediate sale of the Spectrum Building while continuing to explore other options to meet the needs of the organization that made the offer.
