Committee hears reappointment of Jim Provenzano to ethics advisory committee

Provenzano said the committee has been underused in recent years and described efforts to shape its work. “The way it was created in theory, it’s a great idea, but in practice, it’s toothless,” he said, adding that there is interest in giving the committee more authority and in working with the new city auditor on reporting and data issues.
Council members thanked Provenzano for continuing to serve and noted that recent activity from the auditor’s office may increase the committee’s workload. No formal committee vote was taken; the item will be forwarded to the full council for confirmation on March 5.
