Amelia County board appoints Eric S. Pollock as county administrator

"Your search was one of the smoothest that I've worked through," Mundy told the board, adding he stood behind the board's choice and wished Pollock well in the transition.
Board documents and remarks at the meeting said the Berkeley Group's recruitment team included Doug Walker and Ken Venom. The board recounted reviewing applications, conducting in-person interviews of four finalists and performing background and credential checks before agreeing on Pollock.
Pollock, who previously served as town manager in Tappahannock, town manager in Glasgow and management analyst in Fluvanna County, addressed the board after the vote. "I'm not big on speeches, so thank you all for having me, and thank you all for your confidence. And I am gonna deliver for you guys, and we're gonna, exceed as a community and move the community forward into the future," he said.
The board made the motion to authorize the chairman to sign the employment agreement during the meeting and voted the motion carried by voice vote. The motion named the appointment, gave the April 14, 2025 start date, and did not include a roll-call tally in the minutes provided.
The board recessed briefly after the vote for photo opportunities and for the new administrator to meet staff and board members.
The decision completes a multi-step recruitment the board described at the meeting: an initial longlist of candidates, in-person tours of county facilities for finalists, interviews by the full board and review of references and background checks.
No other formal conditions or contingencies were announced at the meeting; the board said Mundy will continue to serve until Pollock begins.
