Planning commission approves conditional use permit for Nexus Technology warehouse at Spring Street

The Baldwin Park Planning Commission on Feb. 26 voted 3-0 to adopt Resolution PC 25-07, approving Conditional Use Permit CP25-01 to allow Nexus Technology Inc. to operate a wholesale warehouse, corporate headquarters and repair facility in an existing tilt-up building at 13180 Spring Street.
Planning staff said the site is a 0.32-acre parcel improved with an approximately 7,388-square-foot warehouse and office and that the applicant proposes no exterior alterations. "Please note there are no exterior alterations or changes being proposed to the existing industrial building as a part of this application," staff said in its report and presentation.
The applicant, who identified himself as Tony Dipp, said the location would be used for wholesale distribution of consumer electronics, technical/customer support and warranty repairs. "The place of business will mainly be used for wholesale and distribution only. There's no business to direct consumers," Dipp said. He added the operation would be open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Staff noted the applicant's operations plan specifies shipments delivered by delivery trucks and that conditions of approval limit the number of delivery trucks on-site at any one time and prohibit outdoor storage of products and pallets to avoid impacts to adjacent properties.
After public testimony and a commission question confirming there would be no direct retail sales to the public, the commissioners moved and seconded approval. The roll-call vote recorded Chair Pena, Vice Chair Gonzales and Commissioner Rodriguez as voting yes; Commissioner Escobosa was absent.
The resolution also includes a CEQA exemption finding as noted in staff materials. The permit allows Nexus Technology Inc. to operate at the Spring Street address in compliance with the specified conditions of approval.
