Board appoints Michael Webb as Yolo County administrative officer; Webb to start March 31

The Yolo County Board of Supervisors on Feb. 25 appointed Michael Webb as the county administrative officer, approving an employment agreement that outlines salary, benefits and the term of service.

Panu, the presenter for the executive search, summarized a nationwide recruitment process that included paper screening and multiple interview rounds. The board selected Michael Webb after a process the presenter described as rigorous. Webb currently serves as city manager of Davis and previously held multiple leadership roles in the City of Davis, including assistant city manager and director of community development.

Supervisor Villegas moved to appoint Webb; the motion was seconded and the board approved the appointment by voice vote. Supervisors praised Webb’s experience and regional relationships. Supervisor Allen said the board sought a leader “good at developing relationships” and that Webb emerged as a “shining star” for organizational leadership. Several supervisors thanked Dirk Bridal for serving as interim administrative officer during the recruitment.

Webb spoke briefly after his selection, saying he was “deeply honored and privileged” and that he looked forward to working with the board and county staff to implement the board’s policy direction. Supervisors confirmed Webb’s anticipated start date as March 31.

The board also directed staff to execute the related employment agreement authorizing the chair to sign on the county’s behalf.
