The Transportation, Utilities and Infrastructure committee held a public hearing on House Bill 323, which would amend Section 32-9-29 to exempt electric utility commodities from oversized-movement permitting requirements on the state highway system.
"Safety is their number 1 with all these utilities," Representative Givens said in introducing the bill, adding that the proposal seeks parity with agricultural exemptions and does not ask for higher weight limits. "So house bill 3 23... is to exempt electric utility commodities from the requirement of obtaining oversized permit for movement on the state highway system," he said.
