The State Government Committee adopted a substitute for HP290 and passed the measure after sponsors added pulp-and-paper and defense-contractor sectors and employee-protection language for Alabama Power Company.
Representative Moody, the bill sponsor, said the substitute adds pulp and paper and defense contractors to the list of industries afforded protections under the bill; he said the Senate carried a companion measure and it passed there unanimously. Jamie Keel offered the substitute; another member seconded the substitute and the committee approved it by voice vote.
The committee adopted the substituted bill, then approved the bill as substituted by voice vote. Representative Moody thanked the committee for covering the substitute language, and the committee chair adjourned the meeting.
