The committee advanced House Bill 13-37, which would provide a five-day grace period after a missed deadline for nonprofits to obtain a raffle license from the Secretary of State.
Representative Whit Garrett, sponsor of the bill, said the measure would let volunteer fire departments or other nonprofits that missed a licensing deadline to have a short window after the governor signs the bill to hold a raffle. "All this does is open up that deadline once the governor signs the bill for 5 days where they can have their raffle," Garrett said.
There were no substantive questions, and the committee voted 21–0 to send the bill to Finance, Ways and Means.
The bill now moves to the Finance committee for further consideration.
