Hangtown Little League reopens renovated Rotary Field; requests help with dogs and restroom upkeep

Representatives of Hangtown Little League told the Placerville City Council on Feb. 25 that volunteers and local donors completed a significant renovation of Rotary Field and that the league plans an opening-day celebration March 23.
“Basically, we went through a large renovation project at Rotary Field to get the field back in working order. We was all funded by Hangtown Little League with donations from Thompson's Toyota and Rotary Club,” said Anthony Middleton, who described volunteers contributing labor and businesses donating services and materials. The league also acknowledged in-kind support from Joe Vicini Enterprises and union volunteers.
Middleton asked the council for help keeping dogs off the field and for assistance getting the park restrooms back in service. “There’s a lot of dogs on this field, and a lot of the kids are having issues with stepping in their leavings and them tearing up the field,” he said, and requested signage and park-staff support to enforce rules against dogs on the playing surface.
Council members thanked Middleton and noted the field is a well-known venue for county little league play. Middleton invited residents to opening day on March 23 at noon and described a likely practice scrimmage the week before.
No formal council action was taken; the city acknowledged the request and the council expressed appreciation for volunteer and donor contributions.
