The Kahoolawe Island Reserve Commission voted to approve the Protect Kahoʻolawe ʻOhana’s proposed access dates and activities for calendar year 2025, saying the submission followed the commission’s stewardship procedures.
Executive Director Mike told commissioners the Ohana’s annual list of activities and dates was attached to the staff memo and that “there are no changes in activities for this upcoming year.” He noted the stewardship agreement had been revised in June 2024 and staff said this approval does not alter that agreement.
Commissioner Mata'afa moved to approve the dates “as submitted by the KIRC executive director.” The commission approved the motion by roll-call vote: Vice Chair Saito, Commissioner Chang, Commissioner Mata'afa and Commissioner Souza voted aye.
Staff said the Ohana representative was available by Zoom if commissioners had follow-up questions, and commissioners recorded their approval without amendment.
