Following interviews conducted at a separate workshop session, the City Commission voted Feb. 25 to appoint S. Slattery as city clerk. The managers’ report presented tallied interview totals and the commission moved to ratify the appointment by roll call; all five commissioners voted to appoint Slattery as city clerk.
The commission deferred the deputy city clerk selection for additional review. Three candidates had been interviewed for the deputy position; commissioners voted to postpone any appointment and asked staff to provide additional materials and, if desired, to re‑interview applicants at the next meeting. A motion to postpone the deputy appointment passed unanimously.
The manager's summary of interview scores was read into the record: Slattery received the highest score in the clerk interviews. The commission instructed staff to return for final hiring paperwork and employment agreements consistent with the resolutions authorizing the mayor to execute employment contracts for the selected clerks.
