UN reports continued cross-border aid into northwest Syria and expresses concern about strikes in southern Syria

The United Nations said cross-border aid from Turkey into northwest Syria is continuing, with 43 trucks carrying more than 1,000 metric tons of food and relief items entering through the Bab al-Hawa/Bab al-Salam border corridor yesterday and nearly 400 trucks having crossed since the start of the year.
The spokesperson said the deliveries included World Food Programme food consignments and assistance from the International Organization for Migration, and that partners are also supporting rehabilitation of homes, schools and infrastructure where security and logistics permit. The spokesperson reported that around 350 homes have been rehabilitated in northwest Syria since last month, more than 700 people received support repairing homes in Damascus and its rural surroundings, and three water stations were restored in Latakia in the previous two weeks.
Despite these deliveries, the spokesperson said destruction remains extensive: 34 facilities in former frontline areas of Aleppo have sustained damage or destruction and require immediate rehabilitation to restore central services. Hostilities in eastern Aleppo, including in the vicinity of the Tishrin Dam and the Al Khafsa water pumping station, have resulted in casualties and restricted humanitarian access and movements of people, the spokesperson said.
In response to a question about reported Israeli strikes in southern Syria, the spokesperson said the UN is "very concerned about the continuing violation by Israel of Syria's sovereignty and its territorial integrity" and stressed that obligations under the 1974 disengagement of forces agreement and international law must be respected to avoid further regional instability.
The spokesperson reiterated calls for diplomatic, inclusive solutions in Syria and emphasized the need to protect civilians and maintain humanitarian access.
