The Santa Cruz Valley Unified School District No. 35 governing board on Feb. 25 approved two proclamations recognizing career and technical education (CTE) and Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA).
Board members moved and seconded two motions in open session to approve a Rio Rico High School proclamation designating Feb. 1โ28, 2025 as Career and Technical Education Month and a belated proclamation designating a week in February 2025 as FCCLA Week; both motions carried on affirmative voice votes recorded as "Aye" without individual roll-call tallies in the transcript.
CTE staff member Mr. Navarro introduced students who described recent CTE activities, including community catering work, participation in a river cleanup, and upcoming state competitions. Students said FCCLA members assist with teacher lunches, community catering and will attend state competitions with hopes of qualifying for nationals.
District administrators asked the board to sign and photograph the proclamations; the items were presented as part of CTE Month activities and recognized by the board. The transcript includes praise from board members for the students' work and for CTE programs at Rio Rico High School.
The proclamations were recorded as approved in the consent of motions; the transcript does not list the exact text of the proclamations beyond the designations of dates and recognition of CTE and FCCLA activities.
