Hudsonville Public School District staff presented a packet of new and revised job descriptions tied to the realignment and other staffing needs.
Administrators said several descriptions relate directly to the MTSS realignment โ for example, a director of teaching and learning, two facilitator/instructional coach positions, and student support specialist roles โ and that those positions are being posted internally first to give current certified staff priority to apply. They also noted that some temporary positions funded by one-time recovery dollars previously would not continue in their original form.
The board also reviewed three positions unrelated to the MTSS realignment: an assistant transportation director funded by a grant earmarked for transportation, an associate director of early childhood (reframing the existing assistant director role to reflect broader leadership over childcare, GSRP and ECSE programs), and a superintendent job description for board reference. Administrators said the assistant transportation director role would be funded by a grant that can only be used for transportation services and that the district expects the successful candidate to obtain required licenses when appropriate.
Board members asked whether the board will approve job descriptions and whether those descriptions would be shared with principals and staff; administrators said job postings and hires can follow board approval of positions and that job descriptions will be placed in a future board packet for review. Administrators said they have not yet hired anyone and that internal postings were intended to start the placement process while the board reviews descriptions.
Several board members asked administrators to provide clearer communications to principals and building reps, noting that principals have asked for the job descriptions but that administrators were holding final drafts until the board reviewed them. Administrators said fine-tuning could be done and invited board members to submit feedback for the next packet.
