Finance committee approves Fort Gratiot Fire Department access to county Columbus network

The Oakland County Board of Commissioners Finance Committee voted to approve a department recommendation allowing the Fort Gratiot Fire Department to join the county's Columbus network and gain access to county systems including Oaknet, Connect, Jodi and Clemens.
The motion to allow the new service was moved by Commissioner Smith and supported by Commissioner Smith Charles. The committee recorded a 5-0 vote in favor; the chair announced "Motion carries."
EJ Wyden, identified as chief technology officer with the Columbus team, introduced Fort Gratiot’s request. "Fort Gratiot is a part of Saint Clair County, and they're looking to bring 1 station in. They've agreed to the funding that's required to make this happen, and they plan to actually be joining us as a full member," Wyden said.
Committee discussion was limited; staff said Fort Gratiot had agreed to the necessary funding and planned to use the county network integrations to create required data shares with other vendors and applications. Commissioners had no further questions and moved to a vote.
The formal action on the agenda read: "Department recommendations, new service with Fort Gratiot Fire Department for access to Oaknet, Connect, Jodi, and Clemens." The motion passed unanimously, 5-0. Staff concluded the item by thanking presenters and recording the approval for implementation.
