The Lake Elsinore City Council unanimously approved its city consent calendar and the successor agency consent calendar during a brief regular meeting, and council members used the remainder of the session to deliver community announcements.
Councilman Manos moved to approve the city consent calendar items 1 through 13, and Mayor Pro Tem McGee seconded. The motion carried 5-0. Agency member Johnson moved to approve seven successor agency consent items; Chair McGee seconded and that motion also carried 5-0.
The approvals were procedural votes on the consent calendars; no individual consent item was pulled for separate discussion. Council members then provided routine updates and community notices.
Councilman Sheridan, who said he represents the Riverside Transit Authority (RTA) locally, reminded the public of two upcoming RTA meetings and announced that Riverside University Health System will host a free vaccine clinic on Friday, March 7, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Lake Elsinore Senior Activity Center. The Senior Activity Center’s street address was given as 420 East Lakeshore Drive.
Sheridan and Councilwoman Johnson also promoted local programming: an acting class run by the Ophelia Theatre Group meets Tuesdays from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Senior Activity Center; Sarah Bennett is listed as the instructor. Johnson announced the Carl Graves Scholarship for Lake Elsinore Unified School District students; the scholarship provides annual awards that range from $4,000 to $6,000 for up to four years and has an application deadline of April 9. Johnson said application information is available on the city’s website.
Mayor Tisdale updated residents on downtown Main Street work, saying most streets are open after a slurry seal completed Feb. 22. He said crosswalks are expected to be open the first week of March and that decorative elements will be added later. Tisdale also thanked local, county and federal officials for assistance on city projects.
The council did not take any additional formal actions during the meeting; items that required longer deliberation were handled earlier, according to the mayor.
