County Board approves advisory appointments, adopts revised Park and Recreation Commission charter

The Arlington County Board on Feb. 25 approved a large slate of advisory‑group appointments and reappointments and adopted a revised charter for the Park and Recreation Commission.
Chair Tax Carantones read a motion listing appointments and reappointments across multiple advisory boards and commissions, including the Climate Change, Energy and Environment Commission, the Community Development Citizens Advisory Committee, the Commission on the Status of Women, the Community Services Board, the Fiscal Affairs Advisory Commission, the Forestry and Natural Resources Commission, the Housing Commission, the Historical Affairs and Landmark Review Board, the Industrial Development Authority, the Metropolitan Washington Airport Authority Community Working Group and others. The board voted unanimously to approve the roster.
Later in the meeting Board Member Katie Cunningham moved to adopt a revised charter for the Park and Recreation Commission. Staff and board members said the changes were previously reviewed by the Park and Recreation Commission and the revisions incorporate the county’s recently adopted climate and equity resolutions and some other updates. The motion to adopt the revised charter carried unanimously.
Board members noted that charter text will be publicly available and that the board retains the ability to amend charters in future meetings.
Votes: The roster of appointments and the Park and Recreation Commission charter adoption were each approved by unanimous vote.
