The district engaged a restoration contractor on a cooperative purchasing agreement, filed a claim with its insurer and has a $5,000 deductible for physical repairs; the insurer already issued a check to cover carpet and wall repairs.
Work already completed includes plaster patching, removal and repair of damaged sound panels, and painting of ceilings and cinderblock. Carpeting has been ordered; aisle lighting and some fixtures are still anticipated to arrive in about a week, attendees were told. The presenter said some of the original electronics and control connections were older and that the district is evaluating whether to replace them with upgraded equipment.
On the question of cost, the service administrator said an initial appraisal for electronics damage was "close to $250,000" and that a second party would verify that estimate later in the week. Because new equipment lead times could extend beyond the district's timeline for spring performances, the presenter said the district was planning to rent temporary light and sound equipment if needed to support a scheduled spring drama production.
Board members asked whether rehearsal and performances could continue; administration said students have been practicing on a partially available stage and staff are coordinating with the principal and drama coach. The board received no motion or vote on this item; staff said repairs are underway and that a follow‑up insurance appraisal was pending.
