Osceola commissioners highlight Tech Park groundbreaking, employee awards and community events

The commission also recognized staff milestone anniversaries: Yesenia Claudio Hernandez (15 years, Community Development), Daniel Robert Tohorton (15 years, Emergency Management), Jessica Sullivan (20 years, Extension Services) and Rebecca Darnell Jeffers (25 years, Community Development).
Commissioner Chaudhry reported on the Tech Park groundbreaking in District 1 and described planned infrastructure and features designed for students and outdoor “tech”-focused amenities, including walking paths and solar charging areas. Chaudhry also thanked community partners for a district toy distribution event that served more than 100 families and promoted an upcoming Senior Fun Day on Tuesday, Jan. 28, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Good Samaritan Village.
Commissioner Grieve announced a ribbon cutting for the Buena Ventura Lakes exercise pad at Veterans Infantry Park at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 8, and encouraged attendance. Grieve also proposed nominating Lavelle Monger for the Lloyd Burton Junior Service Award and said she would distribute Emergency Management challenge coins to fellow commissioners.
Commissioner Grieve moved to reappoint Matthew Boggs to the Community Development Block Grant advisory task force; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote.
