Board approves secondary 1:1 Apple refresh and vendor asset-disposition plan

The Seaman USD 345 Board approved a proposal to refresh secondary student devices with a district-managed Apple 1:1 fleet and accepted a vendor’s asset-disposition and deployment plan.
District technology staff presented a five-payment schedule tied to an Apple equipment lease and an asset-disposition plan from Synetic Technologies. Synetic bid a minimum-guarantee value of $437,100 for the district’s outgoing devices, and will provide asset tagging, initial deployment, serial-number reconciliation and handling of dead-on-arrival units as part of the engagement.
Administration said the vendor’s minimum payment will be remitted to Apple to reduce subsequent lease payments, and any amount above the minimum will be returned to the district. The board voted to approve the secondary refresh, device deployment and disposal plan as presented.
Board members lauded the higher return for Apple devices compared with alternative laptop/Chromebook hardware and noted the logistics advantage of local vendor support. The district will follow a staged implementation schedule with vendor coordination and return more detailed payment and deployment timing in subsequent communications.
