Cambridge Springs construction timeline could slip after snow days, district says

Superintendent Ford reported that the district held an initial construction meeting for Cambridge Springs and described the project as "a big project" that includes asbestos abatement followed by floor and ceiling work. He said the district has used two of its three built-in snow days so far this school year and that additional snow days could compress the contractor schedule and reduce available summer work time.
Ford said the district is considering calendar contingencies, including using additional hours or days as it did during last year’s eclipse day, and may seek to bring some contractors onto campuses before the school year ends. He said the district will bring an update to the board next month on calendar and scheduling options to ensure contractors have sufficient time to complete asbestos abatement and related construction before the fall.
The board discussed contingency planning; no formal vote was taken. The district flagged the concern so the board can consider calendar adjustments to preserve contractor windows and keep seasonal projects on schedule.
