The Wallsburg Town Council on Feb. 6 took a series of formal votes on administrative and procurement matters.
Budget acceptance: Council moved and approved acceptance of the current budget as presented, with members agreeing to pursue targeted amendments at a later work meeting. The council voted in favor by voice; the vote was recorded as unanimous among members present.
Procurement policy: The council adopted Resolution 2025-01, a 15-page procurement policy tailored to the town. The resolution states the policy applies to elected and appointed officials and employees, sets thresholds for informal and formal procurements, and directs the mayor to implement the policy. The council read and adopted the resolution by roll call; members present voted aye and the resolution was signed.
Rental benefit policy: The council adopted Resolution 2025-02, a rental-benefit policy that provides one free town-hall or park rental per calendar year to elected officials, appointed officials and employees in good standing; unused rentals do not roll over. The council read the resolution, discussed minor wording, and adopted it by roll call vote.
LED lighting upgrade (Wattsmart program): Council voted to accept Rocky Mountain Power's Wattsmart proposal to upgrade interior and exterior lighting at town facilities to LED. The motion passed unanimously and staff were directed to schedule the work.
Blue-stakes locator purchase: The council voted to buy a pipe/locator device previously purchased by contractor BD Bush and offered to the town for $2,800; councilors also noted the option to buy a new unit and asked about warranties. The motion to buy the used locator passed unanimously; BD Bush had agreed to provide initial training.
Each of the above votes was recorded as unanimous among council members present at the meeting unless otherwise noted. Where staff or council indicated outstanding details (for example, the budget will receive targeted amendments and procurement thresholds will guide future purchases), those items will return to future work meetings.
Motions and recorded outcomes for the principal votes are summarized below.
