Staff said the proposed site—at roughly 11,000 feet elevation—would provide high‑elevation snowpack and runoff data for drainages that currently lack direct measurements, improving local water‑management decisions.
The presenter recommended approving the letter, with the option to route it through a NRCS contact (Jayden) or to Christie Groves, the intended recipient. Commissioners said the data would help the county and local water boards avoid relying on guesswork for high-country snowpack and runoff projections.
A motion to approve the support letter was made, seconded and approved by voice vote. Commissioners asked staff to hold the letter for transmission if NRCS preferred to have county staff send it through their internal channels.
