The Sitka Tribe of Alaska updated the Sitka Assembly Feb. 25 on grants and tribal activities, including conservation, housing and local food distribution programs.
Council chair Yeti Kuka (Sitka Tribe of Alaska) reported that the tribe’s Resource Protection Department received a $200,000 tribal wildlife grant and is proposing to partner with the Wild Salmon Center and the U.S. Forest Service to install AI-enabled video systems at Redoubt Lake to reduce in-season monitoring costs and support the Redoubt Lake sockeye salmon management plan.
