Neshaminy board approves $1.12 million roof restoration for high-school gym roofs

The Neshaminy Board of School Directors on Jan. 22 approved a $1,118,790.20 proposal from Weatherproofing Technologies, Inc. (Tremco) to replace the roofs on Neshaminy High School Gym 3 and the Challenger Gym, with the board voting 9-0.

The district received a facilities improvement grant of $826,875 toward the project; by district policy the board must cover 25 percent of the grant-eligible costs, or $275,625. Board documents presented at the meeting show the contract price for the Tremco proposal would increase the district’s outlay by an additional $16,290.20, making the district’s total payment $291,915.20.

Board member Mr. Allen introduced the motion (agenda item 2.15), and it was seconded; the motion was approved by a unanimous voice vote. The resolution, as read into the record, approves the attached proposal from Weatherproofing Technologies, Inc. “subject to review and approval by the district solicitor and administration.”

District staff did not present alternate bids or a detailed project timeline during the public portion of the meeting; the motion and vote focused on approving the vendor proposal and the funding allocation. The contract award authorizes the administration to finalize the agreement after solicitor review, per the motion language recorded in the meeting minutes.

The project will affect Neshaminy High School facilities and is funded through a mix of the identified facilities improvement grant and local district funds; no additional sources or contingency amounts were specified in the board discussion.
