Public commenter urges South Kingstown to remove transgender references from Title IX policies

During public comment, Robert Carradillo of Westerly addressed the committee and urged South Kingstown to remove references to gender identity from the district’s Title IX policy and to take down the district’s transgender protocol from its website.
Carradillo told the committee he had emailed the district earlier and said recent federal court rulings and executive orders had "reverted" Title IX to protect based on biological sex rather than gender identity. He urged the district to "strike any reference to gender identity in your district's Title IX policy" and "immediately remove the current transgender policy protocol from your website as well as all other published areas as it is invalid."
He also said schools should not allow bathroom or locker‑room mixing by sex, cross‑sex rooming on overnight trips, use of pronouns mandated by staff, boys competing with girls in athletics, or keeping parents uninformed of social transitioning. Carradillo framed his remarks as driven by concerns for female students’ protection and said districts that do not comply risk legal action.
Chair Vetter reiterated public‑comment rules and did not engage in dialogue; no committee action was taken on the issues raised during the public comment period.
