The Garden Grove City Council on an evening meeting appointed Carol Beckles and Tan Nguyen as tenant commissioners to the Garden Grove Housing Authority and approved a contract to replace the City Hall roof.
Council members voted unanimously to appoint the two tenant commissioners. The council later approved a contract award to CI Services Incorporated to replace the City Hall roof; staff said the work will begin in March and take “a couple months.”
The appointments came from the council’s consent calendar. City staff noted that under state law the city council makes appointments to the housing authority. The council recorded a 7-0 vote to confirm the appointments.
Deputy Director Bill Murray presented the roof-replacement project to the council, describing work that will include removal of loose gravel, encapsulation with fiberglass, and a reflective ceramic-asphalt coating that staff said is Title 24–compliant. Staff told the council it opened four bids earlier this year and determined CI Services Incorporated was the lowest responsible bidder. The total project cost was described as “almost $375,000.” The council voted 7-0 to award the contract; staff said funding will come from the Building Rehabilitation Internal Service Fund and the project is included in the current Capital Improvement Plan.
Council members also approved the consent calendar items (items 2–11) and accepted minutes for the successor agency and sanitary district meetings. The successor agency and the sanitary district each approved their minutes and consent items by recorded unanimous votes at the meeting.
