Indian Trail Police Captain Mollis briefed the Town Council on Feb. 25 about department activity in January and highlighted patrol and investigative work.
Mollis reported 115 wrecks during the month and a total of 1,178 traffic actions, including 914 citations and 264 warnings. He read a one-day enforcement summary for Feb. 19 during a snow event: officers and a sheriff’s safe-unit recorded 95 traffic charges that day, including six no-operator-license charges, four driving with license revoked, 23 registration violations, seven no-insurance citations, six speeding citations, two seat-belt violations and four fictitious license-plate offenses; seven vehicles were towed.
Mollis also described cooperation between the town and sheriff’s office and highlighted the work of two detectives funded by the town who handle felony cases. He said those detectives were assigned 26 new felony cases in January, executed 13 search warrants, recovered two stolen motor vehicles and recovered about $26,000 in stolen property.
Councilmembers praised the department and asked about typical investigation timelines; Mollis said felony case durations vary by timing and circumstances. No action items were taken; council members thanked officers for the update.
