The Indian Trail Town Council voted unanimously on Feb. 25 to approve the contract for audit services with JB Watson & Company for the 2025 audit period.
Council members asked whether the town had sought new bids; staff replied the town issued an RFP three years earlier and JB Watson was the only firm that submitted a proposal. Town finance staff said municipal audit firms are fewer and the work is less lucrative, which makes frequent rebidding difficult; the town typically considers re-soliciting every three to four years. The councilmember who moved the contract’s approval said staff would consider rebidding next year if the market improved.
There was no discussion of changes to the audit scope or budget in the meeting record. The motion to approve the contract passed by unanimous voice vote, and staff said they would proceed under the Local Government Commission (LGC) contract framework to execute the engagement and begin year-end work.
