New Mexican restaurant Katrina’s opens on Old Monroe Road

Flor Juarez, owner of Katrina’s Mexican Grill, told the Indian Trail Town Council on Feb. 25 that her family opened a new restaurant at 6437 Old Monroe Road.
The restaurant, Juarez said, took over the space previously occupied by Chiranda’s and is located near the movie theater in the Harris Theater shopping center. “It’s our first restaurant for us,” Juarez said. “We have more than 20 years experience working in the area, but this is our first restaurant.”
Mayor and council members welcomed Juarez and invited the public to visit. No formal action or request for town funding or zoning changes was recorded during the presentation.
The owner gave the address of the business as 6437 Old Monroe Road and described it as a family operation; she told the council the business began operations in January and said she hoped the town would patronize the new restaurant.
The presentation was a brief appearance on the meeting agenda and concluded with council members welcoming the new business.
Katrina’s Mexican Grill will be listed among new businesses in the town’s business registry; any future requests for permits, outdoor seating or other town approvals would follow the town’s normal permitting process.
