Northbrook swears in two new firefighters; both in training and set for paramedic school

Northbrook’s Village Board recognized and the village clerk swore in two newly hired firefighters during the meeting.
Fire department leadership introduced the candidates: Nicholas Pawlicki, 24, of Chicago, who graduated from Lake Forest College in 2022 and previously worked in environmental software sales; and Arnold Aguilar, 29, of Buffalo Grove, who served more than 10 years in the U.S. Marine Corps and most recently held the rank of sergeant. Both candidates are attending the NIPSTA Fire Academy, which began on Jan. 6 and has an anticipated graduation date of March 7. The department said both candidates plan to attend paramedic school at Highland Park Hospital beginning in August.
The chief thanked the recruits’ families and colleagues and noted both are expected to bring varied experience to the department. After remarks, the village clerk administered the oath and family members pinned badges.
The board did not take formal action beyond the ceremonial swearing-in.
