Lago Vista advisory committee discusses irrigation redesign, TCEQ limits and long-term water planning

Members of the Lago Vista Golf Advisory Committee spent a large portion of their meeting discussing a proposed irrigation-system redesign for the municipal golf course, focusing on regulatory limits, system capacity and timing relative to the golfing season.

The discussion centered on the city—s current reclaimed-water permit and practical limits identified during staff analysis. Committee members noted that the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) gives the city an average allowable application rate that, when averaged over a year, equates to about 413,000 gallons per day. Committee members said the prior irrigation design had capacity close to four times that rate, and that choosing a smaller-capacity system could yield significant cost savings while still meeting regulatory limits and actual annual application patterns.
