Parker agrees to fund repairs on a Lewis Lane segment in Lucas for public safety, authorizes $15,341.39 contract

Parker City Council on Feb. 25 authorized expenditure of up to $15,341.39 with Anderson Asphalt and Concrete Paving LLC to repair a damaged portion of Lewis Lane between Parker Road and the Lewis Lane lift station. Council voted unanimously on the measure.

Council members said the targeted patch is in a northbound lane adjacent to a treed section and noted that although the location is fully within the City of Lucas, many Parker residents use the roadway and the city decided to fund a repair for the public good. The action included direction to consider timing in coordination with ongoing intergovernmental discussions between Parker staff and Lucas.

Public works staff identified the specific repair location as the northbound lane between two named property markers (between Bryce and Aaron, adjacent to a small grove). Council asked staff to record the precise site in the minutes and confirmed the lane patch will occur on pavement commonly driven by Parker residents.

The motion authorized the contract amount and allowed staff to consider timing relative to negotiations with Lucas; the council recorded no dissent (vote 5‑0). Council emphasized that the segment lies in Lucas and that the city’s action is intended to address immediate safety hazards for community residents while interlocal agreements are pursued.

"Make a motion that city council authorize the expenditure of up to $15,341.39 with Anderson Asphalt and Concrete Paving LLC for the specific repair of portions of Lewis Lane," a council member said when offering the motion. The motion passed with a unanimous vote.
