Euless Public Library wins Texas Achievement of Library Excellence award

The Marylou Sala Euless Public Library received the 2024 Achievement of Library Excellence Award from the Texas Municipal Library Directors Association, a library-affiliated program of the Texas Municipal League, the council heard.
Library Director Sherry Knight said the award recognizes libraries that provide services to underserved and special populations, engage in collaborative efforts, expand programming, promote digital inclusion and support workforce development. "Of the 542 public libraries in Texas, only 102 received this award in 2024," Knight said, praising staff and community partners.
Knight and library staff highlighted programs and partnerships that contributed to the award: outreach to underserved populations and sensory-friendly designation; partnerships with HEB ISD, HEB Rotary and 6 Stones; literacy and youth programs such as 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten and the HEB Reads Summer Reading Challenge; English-as-a-Second-Language classes; a legacy lab digitization service; the library’s new e-book platform, Boundless; and workforce resources provided in partnership with Texas Workforce Solutions and Goodwill Industries.
Several library board members and supporters attended the presentation. Council members congratulated the staff and volunteers; the mayor noted the library’s volunteers, including a recent youth volunteer of the year, and encouraged continued engagement with volunteers.
Library staff thanked the council for its support and credited the award to the dedication of library employees and community partners.
