Euless council approves CDBG-funded sewer line repairs after public hearing

The Euless City Council approved the city’s recommended Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) project for fiscal year 2025–26, selecting sewer-line repairs as the funded activity after a public hearing with no public speakers.

Euless staff told the council the city is an entitlement jurisdiction for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development program and that the estimated allocation for the funding cycle is $301,000. The staff-proposed project would replace about 1,000 linear feet of sewer line, including roughly 770 feet along Milam Elm Drive, and would include associated manhole replacements. Staff said the work would likely be performed using pipe bursting as the installation method.

“The estimated allocation is $301,000 for this funding cycle,” said Mr. Major, the staff presenter, describing the project boundary and its place in the wastewater system master plan. During the public hearing the mayor asked whether anyone wished to speak in favor or opposed; no members of the public came forward and the hearing was closed.

Council member Bynum moved to approve the recommended project selection; Council member Price seconded and the council voted to approve the motion. The meeting record shows the motion passed; the transcript does not provide a roll-call tally or individual yes/no votes.

The CDBG program is administered through Tarrant County for this funding year, and staff said prior Euless CDBG projects have included accessibility ramps and improvements to the senior center. The council did not direct additional study or changes to the proposed scope during the discussion.

Council action concludes the local selection process; the city will proceed with final project preparations under the CDBG program rules and any applicable Tarrant County or HUD requirements.
